Campus Reporter Climbs to Roll Call’s House Leadership Beat

In a quick leap to one of Roll Call‘s top beats, Dan Newhauser now joins the House leadership team. He started at the publication as an intern and for the past year covered the campus beat, where he broke stories on the House chaplain’s connection to a lawsuit and Capitol Police officers not being allowed to wear shorts in the summer.

Read the memo…

We are pleased to announce that Dan Newhauser will be joining our leadership reporting team to cover the House.

For more than a year, Dan has covered the campus beat with energy and smarts, making regular appearances on Page 1. He provided sharp, informed reporting on the scene of the near-government shutdown, broke open the story of the new House chaplain and his connection to a major lawsuit and told the world that Capitol Police officers can’t wear shorts this summer.

In big ways and small we’ve counted on Dan and he’s come through. He began with Roll Call as an intern not so long ago, moving quickly from editorial assistant to campus reporter. We are looking forward to watching Dan take on his next role with us.

By way of background, Dan came to Washington through the Washington Center for Politics and Journalism and had an internship at the National Law Journal. He attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State.

Dan’s first day on the House beat is still being finalized, but we will immediately begin our search for a new campus reporter.

Please join us in congratulating Dan.
