Cablevision Boosts Operating Income; Newsday Narrows Loss
This morning, Cablevision (CVC), cable provider and parent of Newsday and amNewYork, announced second-quarter operating income of $416.8 million, up from $338.9 million a year ago. Revenue for the whole company rose 5.8% to $1.8 billion, thanks to the company’s non-newspaper businesses.
At the Newsday segment, which includes Newsday, amNewYork and related Web properties among other things, second quarter revenue dropped 9.7% to $80.1 million as the group’s operating loss narrowed to $1.3 million from $2.6
