Business As Usual for One Book Agent

The news is all seemingly bad for the book industry. There are some brights spots. Erin McKean will be publishing her first novel with Grand Central as a result of her blog. Book agent Adam Chromy is actually optimistic, according to an interview by Anita Bartholomew at Ask the Editor. “So the overall industry may be down and I will do less than I would have in a healthy environment but my growth this year over the last has been great,” he tells Bartholomew. Chromy is the genius behind James Howard Kunstler’s novel, World Made By Hand (Grove/Atlantic) and Michael Hogan’s Burial of the Dead. He also expects to have some big books out next year. He suggests those authors looking to hit the big time to work on building an audience or write a completely awesome novel. Hard, but simple advice, perfect for difficult times.
