Burn Notice, White Collar & Suits To Get Their Own Social iPad App

Fans of popular USA Network shows like Burn Notice, White Collar, Suits, Psych, and Covert Affairs are in for a treat. USA Network has just partnered with yap.TV to create a new social experience for iPad and iPhone, connecting USA programs and fans. The USA Network Social TV app is set to be released early next month, November 2011, and will feature everything from instant polls to Facebook and Twitter integration, custom chat groups, interactive sessions and more. According to a press release, "USA will offer viewers an app to harness and amplify the social buzz around its series via Character Chatter. Users will also be able to access a dynamic programming guide, view content, invite friends on Facebook and Twitter to the app as well as chat with other yap.TV users all through one platform on all Apple mobile devices." VP of Digital for USA Network, Jesse Redniss, says, "We are constantly looking for ways to expand our reach and engage our fans not only through rich experience, but across multiple platforms so that they can access our shows and engage with them wherever they are. yap.TV gives our fans an innovative platform for personalizing their interaction and engaging with content in ways that allow us to continually evolve our Social TV experience, always staying a step ahead for our fans." While online video has yet to overtake television, it is becoming more and more clear that television viewers crave that third screen experience. They want to interact with their friends and with extra content online while they are watching their favorite shows. When the social TV trend began, a variety of apps hit the marketplace, including yap.TV and others, designed to let viewers check in and interact with their social graphs while experiencing their favorite television shows. Within a matter of months, television shows, TV services and distributers and networks have been jumping on the social TV bandwagon as well. USA Network’s app is arriving on the scene just at the right time, as television viewers are coming to expect these sorts of third screen apps from content providers.
