Build Your Own Social Network With Flux

Since its inception, MTV has always been considered a trend setter. From the music we listen to, to the sneakers we wear, the music channel has defined what’s hot and what’s not for over two decades. Surprisingly, then. parent company Viacom has lagged behind when it comes to social networking. That is, until now.flux_logoMeet Flux, a platform that’s strikingly similar to Ning, allowing all Viacom properties (including MTV) and any third-party to build their own social network. Customize a template or upload 100%-original CSS, the choice is yours. Even map your own unique domain name.

Once you’ve setup your network, strangers and friends alike are a single click from joining your network. In fact, they don’t even have to set up a lengthy profile to join.

Upon setup, network creators have three options:

fShare – Embed Viacom content into other social networks
Flux Lite – Create a basic social network
Flux Custom – Full control over look and feel of a network

Flux will bring in additional revenue by displaying ads on the various networks. Creators can choose to sell their own adds too. Either way, the current business model calls for a 50/50 revenue share.

Each Flux option is currently in beta mode.
