Buena Vista: Not such a good place

The Walt Disney Company is kicking ass – no thanks to the Buena Vista Motion Picture Group.

The Mouse House reported second quarter earnings today, and the picture was mostly dandy, per the AP: Profit shout up 19% in the second quarter thanks to “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC, and increased attendance at theme parks.

But as The Street.com reports:

“The Media Networks division, which includes TV network ABC, was a strong point, with an 18% rise in revenue to over $3.5 billion. Parks results were solid, gaining 7% on the top line. The company’s studio entertainment division revenue declined 22%.”

Ooops. No “Pirates of the Carribean” to come swashbuckingly to this quarters rescue, m’lady. That will have to wait for this summer.
