Budget Travel Takes Reader Interaction To A New Level

Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel is ensuring its nearly 3 million monthly readers and website visitors play an integral part in shaping its content. Its October 2010 issue, for instance, is based entirely on an online reader poll — that’s right, every single editorial item in the issue is based on the poll.

The magazine’s 1st “Readers’ Choice Awards” had participants answer a 28-category poll in order to determine the most important products, tips, companies and destinations for travel — not to mention readers’ least favorite airline (for me, it’s a seven-way tie).
