Brooklyn: The Other Media Mecca

The L Magazine, available in ever-multiplying orange boxes around the city, is celebrating its five year anniversary (full disclosure: it’s been at least four since we figured out it wasn’t a magazine about the train itself). In the last five years the pocket sized guide to all things New York has gone from a cabbie-interviewing (still a fav), boxing match participating, bi-weekly upstart to a familiar player in the New York alt-weekly scene. One wonders: can a Murdoch bid be far behind?

Meanwhile, has been named one of the “three best weekly paper sites in the country” in the national EPpy Awards competition, which is sponsored by Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek magazines.

At this rate, one can only wonder what the future will hold for borough fav Brownstonerbeyond flea markets, that is.
