BookBaby Brings Indie Authors to Scribd Community

If the next 50 Shades of Grey is out there, Scribd readers may be the ones to find it. BookBaby has announced a partnership with the social network that will let readers sample up to 10 percent of an indie book before they buy it at the online bookstore.

If the next 50 Shades of Grey is out there, Scribd readers may be the ones to find it. BookBaby has announced a partnership with the social network that will let readers sample up to 10 percent of an indie book before they buy it at the online bookstore.

BookBaby, a sibling of the indie musician service CDBaby, gives independent authors the tools to upload, edit, and publish their own digital and print books.

The company has a number of other distribution partners including Amazon, Apple’s iBookstore, and Barnes and Noble where authors can sell their titles alongside traditionally published authors.

But it’s up to the public to decide if they’re willing to take a risk on a title that hasn’t been vetted by a publishing house.
