Bogus Security Warnings Return To Facebook Statuses

People are reposting status updates warning about a forthcoming email virus that will burn recipients' entire hard drive.

Facebook users have the best intentions when warning about security problems.

But sometimes the facts just don’t add up.

People are reposting status updates warning about a forthcoming email virus. The digital malady will allegedlyburn recipients’ entire hard drive.

Said missive will come from someone already in your address book, and will have the subject “INVITATION FACEBOOK” written in all capital letters.

A copy of the full message appears to the right.

It’s interesting to see a bogus security warning go viral so soon after another one was widely reported to be erroneous.

Readers, have you seen any of these warnings in your friends’ news feeds?
