B&N Releases Software Update For Nook

Barnes & Noble has released an upgrade for the Nook. The Version 1.5 release includes a new sync feature, a new security feature, as well as a new organizational tool. The Nook update has also been optimized search tools.

The syncing tool lets Nook users sync the last page they read across all of their Nook devices and apps. The new “My Shelves” tool lets users organize shelves of eBooks like one might on a bookshelf. For example, you can have one shelf for cookbooks, one shelf for romance novels and one shelf for how-to books.

The new security feature lets users password protect their Nook in two different ways. The Barnes & Noble website explains more: “First – you can set up your NOOK to lock when it goes into sleep mode, then unlock it with a pass code. Second – you can require a password to purchase content, so others using your NOOK cannot buy anything without your permission.”

The new update is available automatically when connected to Wi-Fi.
