FBLA went to the BMI/Billboard/Gibson Christmas party and had a pretty great time. Melinda Newman is somewhere in the crowd pictured above, as are Nico Vega, Latin Grammy winning songwriter Edgar Cortazar, Virgin’s Ken Blaustein; manager Andy Gould; and former Sony A&R honcho turned manager Roger Klein.

People were talking about the layoffs at Verve and about Lou Reed’s Berlin.

We also heard about Axl Rose’s split with manager Merck Mercuriadis, and that the long-awaited album, Chinese Democracy, isn’t likely to hit the new release date of March 6th. Someone mentioned that Rose might be hookng with the The Firm, Andy Gould’s management shop.

We also chatted up Ed Levy of the Viper Room, Rob Lowman of the LA Daily News, and Gibson’s Jennifer Smith who’s getting married this weekend.

With so many outfits opting out of the whole party thing, FBLA was very pleased to go drink free vodka and hang out.
