Rupert Murdoch isn’t the only person who wants to see Michael Bloomberg run for president in 2016. According to The New York Times, some of Bloomberg’s pals are pushing the issue. The reason? If Donald Trump can do it, basically anyone can.
“People thought a billionaire couldn’t run for president,” hedge fund manager Bill Ackman told the Times. “Trump disabused everyone of that notion.” Ackman, it should be noted, is a billionaire himself.
The Times claimed that in addition to Ackman, “Bank chief executives, private equity bosses and hedge fund managers” have asked Bloomberg to run.
The big sticking point here is that Bloomberg doesn’t want to run for president.
