Bloomberg Radio/WBBR To Use ESPN Anchors During Morning Drive
Bloomberg Radio/WBBR-AM will no longer implement its own sportscasts in morning drive. Beginning Monday, FishbowlNY has learned, Bloomberg will start using anchors from ESPN. A source tells FishbowlNY that it’s believed to be a barter deal between the business station owned by the Mayor and Disney’s sports station.
Longtime morning sports anchor Jerry Azar left the station in 2010. Shadow Broadcasting reporters have filled the Bloomberg sports gap since Azar’s departure.
The ESPN deal does not affect WBBR’s weekend sports coverage. Shadow staffers will continue to file sports reports for the station on Saturday and Sunday.
