Blip.tv To Send Monthly Checks To Creators Starting This Spring

Blip.tv has announced that they are going to start sending checks out to creators on a monthly basis. It's payday, Blip creators!

Things keep getting better and better for Blip.tv content creators in the money department. At the end of 2010, Blip announced that that they would be paying creators between $10 and $15 per 1,000 views on a quarterly basis and now they have announced on the company blog that they are going to start sending checks out to creators on a monthly basis. It’s payday, Blip creators!

Blip gets pretty excited when it comes to paying their creators. After all, when you reward people for providing you with great content with revenue sharing it just keeps the great content flowing, right? Blip.tv’s co-founder Dina Kaplan, uploaded a great picture of herself signing dozens of checks a couple of days ago, and posted another picture of the huge pile of checks to her Tumblr. The whole team even managed to post for a shot with all the checks.

Blip’s director of content development, Eric Mortensen, posted the following to the Blip blog:

“Do you wish you could get paid every month like a “normal” person? Well, we’re taking care of that, too.

“That’s right. This is the last quarterly payment producers will receive. Starting in April, which is when the next quarterly payment would have arrived, we’ll pay out for January. In May we’ll send a check for February, and so on. Twelve checks a year. Not bad, right?”

Mortensen says that Blip believes that the key to producing successful content is sustainability and consistency, and they are hoping a consistent, regular paycheck will help things all around. All I’ve got to say is, if you want to make money producing online video content then it certainly sounds like Blip is the place to be. What do you think of Blip.tv and their new monthly payment schedule for content creators?
