Bing Pings Upward in July

Two months in existence have meant two months of increases in usage and market share for Microsoft’s new Bing search engine, as comScore said Bing accounted for 8.9% of search queries in the United States in July, up from 8.4% in June and 8% in May, The New York TimesBits reported.

July brought drops of 0.3% to Google and Yahoo!, as they fell to 64.7% and 19.3%, respectively.

According to Bits, analysts were reluctant to read too much into the July figures.

Broadpoint AmTech analyst Benjamin Schachter wrote:

Although Bing took a bit of share from both Google and Yahoo!, we are reluctant to extrapolate this into meaningful long-term share gains.
