#FreeSimmons Campaign Includes Original Folk Song

South Florida-based singer-songwriter James Rustad performs tonight at the Harbor Bar. And thanks to ESPN’s suspension of Bill Simmons, he’s got a new song in his repertoire.

Well done, Mr. Rustad. Not everyone could extract such a catchy chorus from this tricky set of circumstances. Here’s some background on the artist, courtesy of his website:

Rustad is a songwriter-vocalist-guitarist based in the Tampa Bay area. He has earned critical acclaim from top journalists and an obsessive cult following on Twitter. He often performs at the legendary Sacred Grounds Coffee House. His theatrical live shows combine elements of folk, satire and jam band music.

Rustad’s music has been featured on Air Occupy. His songs about the Governor Chris Christie “Bridgegate” scandal have appeared on WWOR My9NY’s Chasing New Jersey TV show three times. He was even interviewed about the Governor Christie scandals in a front page article in the The Bergen Record.
