Bebe dulce Jesus! Univision deal shaping up, rapido

The wires are crawling with reports that Univision (whose board met yesterday) might be selling to a group of U.S. investors, who’ve in turn teamed up with Mexico’s Televisa.

It’s curious to us that CBS Viacom’s Les Moonves isn’t more interested in owning at least part of Univision: Viacom’s already got a foothold on the overseas Latin youth market via MTV International, and unlike the CW, Univision is about the only broadcast network that’s in a position to grow.

What’s more, due to federally-mandated foreign ownership restrictions, Televisa will only ever be able to own a quarter of Univision at the most (it now owns 11%).

Come on, Les. You majored in Spanish. Adelante!
