BBC Mobile Chief to Head R&D

Matthew Postgate, the current BBC Mobile chief, will move over to head up the company’s R&D unit, MocoNews reports. That unit was responsible over the past 60 years for digital audio broadcasting, color TV (!), Nicam, and Teletext, although the report said it also “faced a staff revolt” recently over a planned move from Kingswood Warren, Surrey, to White City, London.

The article said that Postgate, in addition to resolving the above crisis, will work with industry and academia to develop a long-term strategy focused on broadband, including strengthening relationships with both research institutes and universities.
