Barnes & Noble Hires Time Inc.'s Shar to Run Its Digital Newsstand

Bookseller Barnes & Noble today named Jonathan Shar, former senior vice president and general manager of Time Inc.’s CNNMoney.com, as general manager of its Web site’s Digital Newsstand and Emerging Content division.

Shar has been at CNNMoney.com since November 2007. Before that, he was vice president of consumer marketing for Time Inc.’s Sports Illustrated Group. At Barnes & Noble, he will oversee the company’s digital distribution deals with print and online publishers.

Barnes & Noble’s hire reflects a continued push by the company to move into digital distribution of news content following the Feb.
