Barack Obama Plans To Aid Digital Book Distribution

In his State of the Union address last night, President Barack Obama pledged to bring high-speed wireless Internet to 98% of Americans within the next five years. And in this promise, he even gave a shout out to digital books.

Obama explained his motivation to invest in this technological infrastructure. “It’s about a firefighter who can download the design of a burning building onto a handheld device; a student who can take classes with a digital textbook; or a patient who can have face-to-face video chats with her doctor.”

In his speech, the president also gave shoutouts to Facebook and Google, commending their innovation.
