Australian Karen: The Voice of GPS Systems from Garmin, Tom Tom, NavMan, and Mio

I bought a Jabra Bluetooth speakerphone a few years ago and found it interesting that its system messages (e.g., “connected”, “power off”) had to what my American ears sounded like an Australian accent. I thought it was a bit odd but was amused and found the voice very pleasant. It looks like GPS navigation manufacturers like the sound of an Australian accent nice too. Australian Karen Jacobsen, who now lives in the U.S., is the speaking voice of devices from Garmin, Tom Tom, NavMan, and Mio.
