At the College Humor MTV Launch: One Part Party, One Part PR

Throw a few hundred NY media types and their friends into the main floor event space at the IAC Building, add two open bars, some blaring Bon Jovi, and a raucous party you will have.

Such was the scene last night at the launch party for “The College Humor Show,” CollegeHumor.com‘s jump into TV via their new MTV series.

Jessica Berger of Sunshine, Sachs & Associates handled PR duties for the launch, and was on hand alongside S&S partner Shawn Sachs. Berger was rightfully happy about a feature story on the show by the Times‘ Brian Stelter, but did wonder if it had the chance of deterring future coverage.

Nonetheless, Berger worked the floor like a pro, dutifully whisking away CollegeHumor founder and editor in chief Ricky Van Veen into a back room to meet with the Village Voice‘s Michael Musto, among others throughout the night.

Asked about any “item dropping” from the party to New York’s prominent gossip columns, Berger kept things mostly under wraps, but did give a mention of the NY Daily News, which today ran this brief blurb on Van Veen citing NY socialite Olivia Palermo as an inspiration for his character on the show. Note to PR pros: Get creative!
