ASKfm Redesigns Mobile App on iOS, Android

ASKfm now offers a more 'youthful feel' for the app's core user base of teens and Millennials.

ASKfm has released a major update for its app on iOS and Android. The Q&A platform allows users to send questions to other users to answer within the app, with Version 3.0 including a visual redesign of the platform, among other additions. ASKfm has redesigned the app to offer a more ‘youthful feel’ for its core user base of teens and Millennials, and has also given the platform a new mascot: OwlCat.

In addition, the app now has Giphy integration, allowing users to search for GIFs to add to their question responses. Users can also double tap to like or unlike any post, can customize their profile by adding a photo to the banner behind their profile and can share posts and profiles with others via text messages.

Thanks to an integration with Collab, a partner platform for Vine creators, the ASKfm ‘Question of the Day’ feature will soon be ‘programmed’ by a selection of Vine stars, including Rickey Thompson, DSharp and Marcus Perez. Elsewhere, a new ‘Grab n’ Ask’ feature will allow users to share questions they find with their friends.

In a statement, Andrea Cutright, COO of ASKfm, commented:

Young people on ASKfm show incredible engagement—the bulk of the 18 billion questions asked over the past year were answered within a minute. We saw an opportunity to dramatically evolve the ASKfm experience to foster the instantaneous communication, creativity and connection that reflects how our users view the platform.

The new version of ASKfm is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
