As Union Contract Negotiations Continue, #WeMakeNPR Floods Social Media

A show of solidarity takes us through NPR history.

As SAG-AFTRA represented NPR employees continue union contract discussions under what appears to be extended negotiations, staff are showing their solidarity on social media with the #WeMakeNPR hashtag.

The campaign first appeared on Twitter on June 29, a day before contracts were set to expire, according to a Facebook post by NPR investigations correspondent Howard Berkes.

Some of the early posts explained the purpose behind the hashtag, but the campaign reached its zenith today, focusing on employee accomplishments, a fact which confused some seeing the tweets.
