It’s the end of an era. Arianna Huffington, who co-founded The Huffington Post in 2005, is leaving the site. Huffington is moving on to focus on her health and wellness startup Thrive Global.
Huffington founded HuffPost in 2005 with Kenneth Lerer, Andrew Breitbart and Jonah Peretti. In 2011, HuffPost was acquired by AOL for $315 million. Verizon later bought AOL and Verizon will close on its Yahoo acquisition in 2017.
With many changes coming at the close of the Yahoo deal, and with Huffington already knee deep in Thrive Global, she said it made sense for her to move on.
“When I decided to create Thrive Global, I thought it would be possible to build a startup and continue as editor in chief of the Huffington Post,” said Huffington.
