A must-do curatorial event — or must-not, depending on what you’re into:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — New York, NY — October 12, 2006 — The Museum of Sex is proud to unveil a new BDSM [EDITOR’S NOTE: “bondage and discipline, domination and submission and sadism and masochism”] installation as part of their ongoing exhibition, Spotlight on the Permanent Collection. New York area dominatrix Domina M donated a variety of furniture and accessories to the museum’s permanent collection from her former dungeon, Luxuria.

So, what exactly is being donated? Glad you asked:

St. Andrew’s Cross, floggers, a mak, bondage rope, a whip, a nipple clamp, a collar, a leash, a multi cane, a crop, a ball gag and a parachute ball stretcher.

This Domina sounds interesting. What’s her story?

Domina M has been a professional dominatrix since the age of 23. She began her career as an apprentice to Mistress Simone at a Los Angeles dungeon called Justice. After establishing herself in Los Angeles, she moved to New York and built her own version of Justice, a dungeon she called Luxuria.

That’s it, I’m sold. When can I interview her?

NOTE: Members of the media are invited to attend a light reception celebrating the latest donation to the museum’s permanent collection as described below. The reception will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2006 from 6:30-8:30 pm and official press identification will be required for admittance. Domina M, the donor of the artifacts, will be available for interviews at that time. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Wetspots. This event is NOT open to the public.

Museum of Sex Unveils New BDSM Installation — New York Area Dominatrix Donates Several Artifacts to the Museum’s Permanent Collection

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — New York, NY — October 12, 2006 — The Museum of Sex is proud to unveil a new BDSM installation as part of their ongoing exhibition, Spotlight on the Permanent Collection. New York area dominatrix Domina M donated a variety of furniture and accessories to the museum’s permanent collection from her former dungeon, Luxuria.

BDSM refers to bondage and discipline, domination and submission and sadism and masochism. The BDSM furniture and accessories in the museum’s newest installation include a St. Andrew’s Cross, floggers, a mak, bondage rope, a whip, a nipple clamp, a collar, a leash, a multi cane, a crop, a ball gag and a parachute ball stretcher.

Domina M has been a professional dominatrix since the age of 23. She began her career as an apprentice to Mistress Simone at a Los Angeles dungeon called Justice. After establishing herself in Los Angeles, she moved to New York and built her own version of Justice, a dungeon she called Luxuria.

“Luxuria was built to be an archaic world for decedent, sexual sin or taboo,” noted Domina M. “The pieces donated to the Museum of Sex are from the dungeon room known as ‘Nocturne’, which was the jewel in the crown of Luxuria.”

After two years of intense dungeon maintenance and over a year of managing a staff, Domina M deconstructed Luxuria to return to private practice as a professional dominant and to focus on video productions, writings and educational lectures given to the leather community.
