Are You Ready For Some Hank Williams Jr.? (Is One Ever Truly Ready?)

The second longest-running prime time show in history, “Monday Night Football” will premiere tonight on a different network for the first time in 35 years. Fitting, then, that the show’s identity has been completely revamped to make “MNF” feel good as it enters middle age. Look for the cinematic “Transformation” opening by designer/directors Kurt Mattila and Matt Checkowski (with effects by The Syndicate), who also redesigned the scoreboard and all the on-air graphics. We hope these visual distractions will be enough to finally replace the gaping void left by the departure of Dennis Miller.

Need another exercise in football branding? Take this test from Mental Floss, where you have to identify the NFL team using only the colored-striping from their helmets.

And for those who really are looking forward to the musical stylings of HWJ, we are happy to announce he will be joined by Clarence Clemons, Charlie Daniels, Joe Perry, Little Richard and Little Steven Van Zandt, with a cameo by Arnold. We wish we were kidding.

Tune in tonight at 7pm EST.
