Are Ads Coming to Facebook Marketplace?

The ads will have the same look and feel of the social network’s News Feed ads

Facebook is looking into a new place to serve its ads: its Marketplace feature.

The social network confirmed the test to Social Pro Daily, with product marketing manager Michelle Bonner Techel saying in an email:

We are starting a small test that shows ads to a small percentage of people using Marketplace in the U.S. and will evaluate the response before determining how we move forward.

And a Facebook spokesperson told Kurt Wagner of Recode that the ads will have the same look and feel of the social network’s News Feed ads, and they will bring users to landing pages where they can purchase the products or services being advertised.

The social network launched Marketplace last October as a craigslist-style way for users to buy, sell and browse items that have been listed for sale.
