AP's Curley Welcomes Microsoft, Google Battle

Associated Press president and chief executive officer Tom Curley believes Microsoft’s search engine battle with Google will revitalize the media industry by helping it profit more from online news, according to Agence France-Presse.

In an address to the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong, Curley said that Microsoft’s July union with Yahoo! to challenge Google’s dominance of the search market was “a turning point in the traditional media’s efforts to adapt to the Internet.”

“We stand at an enviable moment where Microsoft and Google have decided to go to war,” Curley said in his speech.
