I had quite a chuckle when I read this item over on AppleInsider…

Apple stores to ditch Windows EasyPay systems for iPhone tech

I always found it amusing that for years Apple has used a Microsoft Windows Mobile based Symbol POS (Point of Sale) device. But, it was understandable since Apple didn’t have a mobile device of their own that could handle the task. According to AppleInsider this will change after iPhone OS 3.0 is released with the ability to deal effectively with peripherals that should enable an iPod touch or iPhone to become a POS device Apple Stores.

You can see the Windows Mobile based Symbol POS device used to process the purchase of my iPhone 3G last year in the photo above.
