…notes something that was widely reported: Apple requires all new submitted iPhone apps to be compatible with iPhone OS 3.0. And, then she notes something I missed completely:

…that any application currently in App Store that did not run properly under 3.0 would be removed from the store

My guess is that a good number (thousands) of the 40,000 iPhone apps currently in the App Store may be unmaintained apps (no development after initial release).
