Exiting Marketplace Morning Report Host Thanks His LA Producer

At the end of today’s Marketplace Morning Report, host Jeremy Hobson expressed confidence in his successor David Brancaccio ahead of his immediate transition from New York to Boston to anchor the expanded NPR program Here and Now. The eight-minute American Public Radio show he is leaving behind has an audience of six million listeners.

Given Hobson’s six years of service, one can forgive him for running through a list of thank you’s worthy of an Oscar winner. Topping the list this morning were his two “incredibly talented producers” Justin Ho (pictured) and Sean Bowditch.

Ho works out of APM’s downtown LA offices, while Bowditch is based in NYC. Together with digital producer Katie Long, they will now help Brancaccio and co. put a bow on the day’s most pertinent business news.

Hobson taped Marketplace Morning Report in LA from March 2011 through May of 2012. Before and after that, he was based in New York.

Reached this afternoon via email, the exiting host had this to say to FishbowlLA about his LA producer. “Justin is one of the most talented and hardworking people I have ever worked with,” Hobson explains. “He was the key field producer when I hosted the show from Cleveland for a week, producing interviews with the governor of Ohio and the former governor. He also put together a piece about Ohio’s economic past, present and future that I’m very proud of.”

“Justin has had his hand in everything we’ve done on the show since he came on board – bookings, production and music selection,” he adds. “He’s a joy to work with and he is going to go very far in whatever he chooses to do.”
