AP Layoffs Continue, Say Tipsters

UPDATE: A source directly from the AP has let us know that 11 staffers in total have been let go – 7 in news, the rest in technology. Notifications were given last week and today.

Following this morning’s announcement that reporter David Meeks had been named an assistant managing editor at the Associated Press comes news that several AP staffers have been laid off.

Sources today informed Gawker that four employees from the AP’s technology department, a reporter and acting chief of bureau in the newsgathering organization’s Mid-Atlantic bureau, a reporter in Omaha, and a photographer in Tallahassee have all been laid off as of late last week.
