An Instagram user with the handle @TipsForJesus has been visiting restaurants around the country and leaving some pretty serious tips behind when they pay.

According to The Daily Dot, since September this anonymous @TipsForJesus person has left over $54,000 in gratuities in an astounding display of Christian generosity, with tips ranging from $500 to $10,000.

And although the identity of the tipper isn’t known, they’re getting huge amounts of positivity and gratitude on their Instagram account.

Generous? Yes. Anonymous? Mostly. entirely altruistic? Let’s hope so, because if not, this is one EXPENSIVE marketing ploy!

But the motivation for these acts is secondary to the burning question: Who is @TipsForJesus, and where do they come from?

Well…nobody really knows. But their receipts have been showing up in Utah, California and Michigan, among other places. So, think about it – do YOU know anyone with tons of cash to blow who frequents those random locations? Someone does!

Though we suppose @TipsForJesus could be one person or it could be several.

Either way, they’ve been bringing smiles to servers’ faces for three months now. Wouldn’t THIS make you smile?

If you work in hospitality and are thinking YOU would like a tip like that (who wouldn’t?) then continue to do a good job and keep your patrons happy.

Some Instagram users seem to have missed the point though and have been commenting with their restaurant address and the time they’re working.

You’re not supposed to REQUEST a random act of kindness and can pretty much guarantee you won’t get a visit if you ask for one, but you never know — SOMEONE might decide you deserve a little bonus this Christmas. (I’m easy to find ANY time via Facebook gifts, by the way. Cough, cough.)

Any guesses as to who is behind @TipsForJesus?
