Angelina Jolie Accidentally Crashes Political Reception

Last night actress Angelina Jolie accidentally rubbed elbows with some politicos as she and her entourage made their way through the Roosevelt Hollywood Hotel, where the Bipartisan Policy Center and LA Confidential Magazine were hosting a soirée to celebrate a commission launch today. Jolie, a former U.N. Refugee Agency Goodwill Ambassador, isn’t a stranger to politics, but she didn’t stop to mingle and walked on through with her entourage.

The BPC, founded by Jason Grumet and Senate Majority Leaders Howard BakerTom DaschleBob Dole, and George Mitchell recently announced in a USA TODAY op-ed co-authored by former Sec. Dan Glickman and former Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), that they were forming a Commission on Political Reform (CPR).

The commission launch will be held today…at the Ronald Reagan Library & Foundation from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. PT. Considering the political gridlock of Sequester, the BPC is clairvoyant or really lucky with timing. The bipartisan center will host it’s first of four public events in 2013-14 at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library.

USA Today will be a media partner. Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page will serve as a moderator for panel discussions with the commissioners.

The commission will be lead by Tom Daschle, former U.S. Senate Maj. Leader (D-SD); Co-founder, Glickman, Snowe, former Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, and former Senate Maj. Leader Trent Lott. Other commissioners include: Michael Gerson, former speechwriter for President George W Bush and columnist for WaPo, Karen Hughes, former top aide to Bush, National Review‘s Reihan Salam, and Elaine Wynn, director of Wynn Resorts.
