Android Replacing Windows as Malware Target of Choice? Up 472% Since July

Earlier this year I noticed that estimtes indicated that Android Malware had increased 700% betwen January 2010 and June 2011. This was based on two separate reports by Juniper/Bullguard and McAfee. The Loop cites a more recent report from Juniper for the period from July and October 2011 that Android malware had increase 472% in those few short months.

Note that this 472% increase is on top of the 700% increase that happened previously. So, if the three reports used comparable metrics, Android malware increased something like 330,000% between January 2010 and October 2011 (22 months).

Juniper notes that 55% of Android malware are of the spyware variety while 44% of SMS (text message) trojans.
