An East Coast-West Coast Rap (Writers) War

FBLA has just learned that LAT music biz reporter Charles Duhigg is leaving for the New York Times — the same fly-by-night outfit that stole former LAT music biz reporter Jeff Leeds.

(Note LAT staffers: If you want to work for the NYT, snag that the music biz beat.)

For the LAT, Duhigg did a stint in Iraq, exposed payola schemes and threw a wet blanket on mix-tape makers with his story declaring in no uncertain terms that copying music is a violation of federal law.

Duhigg was a rapidly rising star at the paper — for a perspective on how rapidly, we stole this picture from the Washington Post’s internship bios.
