AMI’s Country Weekly Gets New Publisher

countryweekly09.05.08.jpgAfter Tori Hughes refused to relocate from Nashville to New York, American Media Inc.’s Country Weekly needed a new publisher. The No. 1 selling country music magazine found one in Marie Wolpert, who was working as a sales and marketing consultant for Good Housekeeping and Quick and Simple. She previously served as associate publisher of Smart Money and advertising director of The New Yorker.

The magazine’s editorial staff will remain in Nashville.

AMI also publishes titles including Star, Shape, Men’s Fitness, Fit Pregnancy, Natural Health and The National Enquirer.

NEW YORK, Sep 05, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — American Media, Inc. (AMI) today announced that Marie Wolpert has been named Publisher of Country Weekly magazine. She will begin her duties immediately and report to AMI President John Miller.

Ms. Wolpert has held high-level positions for a number of prominent publications, including being the Associate Publisher of Smart Money and the Advertising Director at New Yorker. Most recently she served as a sales & marketing consultant for the Hearst publications Good Housekeeping and Quick and Simple.

Ms. Wolpert will be based in American Media’s New York Offices, while Country Weekly’s editorial staff will continue to be located in Nashville. Ms. Wolpert replaces Tori Hughes as publisher, who declined to make the transition to New York.

Ms. Wolpert is a graduate of New York University.
