AMEX Hooks Up Small Business with Free Facebook Ads

First there was Black Friday for big retailers, and then Cyber Monday for online merchants. Now, small businesses are getting their own boost with Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. And to help push the new date, American Express is giving away money to left and right.

First there was Black Friday for big retailers, and then Cyber Monday for online merchants. Now, small businesses are getting their own boost with Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. And to help push the new date, American Express is giving away money to left and right.

The first 10,000 small business owners to sign up to participate will get $100 worth of free Facebook advertising, and the first 100,000 Amex cardholders who pledge to use their credit cards on Nov. 27 to support small businesses out will receive a $25 credit.

Amex CEO Kenneth Chenault has teamed up with New York City Mayor Bloomberg to announce a few partnerships to promote Small Business Saturday, two of which include Facebook and you. The first one is that if you go to Small Business Saturday’s Facebook Page, and you “Like” them, Amex and SBS will donate $1 to non-profit Girls Inc., which teaches young women entrepreneurial skills.

The second one consists on giving you “free advertising tools” in order to help promote those small businesses you might shop at on that day. For example, you can give shout outs to them either on Facebook or Twitter (check their page to see how to do that).

Sounds like a win-win for everyone! Will you be a part of Small Business Saturday?
