Alternative Business Models for Newspapers...Because Uhm....We Need Some

Mark Glaser, over at Media Shift has compiled some alternative business models for newspapers. Apparently, the Victorian business model is rusted through…and unrecognizable as a business or a model.

Are we being dramatic? Only slightly.

Anyway, Glaser delves into the various models bouncing around including Blog Networks, Classified Networks, Crowdfunding, Customized Papers, Hyper-Local Ads, Local Portal, Multimedia Ads, Niche Sites, Non-Profit and Paid Content.

We used to tout the non-profit model stating,”You don’t see NPR laying people off.”
