ADP: U.S. Lost 10,000 Private Jobs In August

Private sector employment declined by 10,000 in August, payroll giant ADP reported today. Today’s report also revised downward July’s minor growth, from the previously reported 42,000 to 37,000.

The news “confirms a pause in the recovery already evident in other economic data,” ADP said in a statement.

On the bright side (for media workers), the private jobs lost were in the goods-producing sector; 40,000 of them. The service sector added 30,000 jobs.

Of course, when the economy is in the tank, nobody wins, so this “bright side” is dim indeed.
