A Social-Media Oath of Citizenship

/Film managing editor David Chen officially became an American citizen in a Naturalization Oath Ceremony Thursday at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Mass., and he took full advantage of the fact that the use of electronic devices was not prohibited, sharing his experiences on Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr, Mashable reported.

Chen told Mashable:

I didn’t anticipate being able to live-tweet the ceremony, because I had heard a rumor that they would confiscate my electronic devices. This ended up not being true, so after I checked in, I realized I had an opportunity to show people an aspect of citizenship that they might not usually be privy to. And I took it.

Following the ceremony, Chen also chronicled his experiences on his blog.
