A Promotion and Hire at National Journal

Kevin Turpin II is upped to svp, strategy and operations and David Hirsch joins as executive director of business development.

National Journal has promoted Kevin Turpin to senior vice president, strategy and operations and added David Hirsch as executive director of business development, announced publisher Poppy MacDonald today.

Turpin, who has been with National Journal for 10 years, was the executive director of strategy and operations prior to his promotion, responsible for, among other things, identifying and developing new products.

“Kevin is exacting, insistent, even preoccupied. But, as to the leadership of his teams, Kevin is supportive, generous, even forgiving. This is a hard balance– standards and support. Kevin strikes the balance as well as anyone I’ve ever seen,” wrote Atlantic Media chairman David Bradley in a memo to staff.

Hirsch was most recently the director of sales at TrackMaven, but had been a longtime staff member at CEB, a business research, tech and consulting firm before then.

“Dave brings to us a wealth of experience that will open new doors to serve an expanded number of organizations as National Journal members. Dave’s success will be driven by highlighting the innovative products Kevin develops; it’s a winning combination for our future growth,” said MacDonald in a statement.
