A Preview of Stanza 2.0

Stanza was onestanza.jpg of the first eReader apps for iPhone and an early leader in the field. Despite the company’s acquisition by Amazon, Stanza is still functioning as a separate entity, with its own app and store, contrary to speculation at the time of the acquisition that Stanza would be folded into Kindle for iPhone.

Neelan Choksi, Stanza’s founder, gave eBookNewser an early tip that Stanza version 2.0 had been submitted to the Apple app store queue and would be available for download soon. (Of course, that could mean soon or not-so-soon) Here is his list of the major new features in the update:

-Tabbed navigation
-Improved backup speed for large libraries
-Support for copy to clipboard for annotations view
-Notes & position sharing via Twitter, Facebook, and Mail
-Custom catalog icons
-Introduction video viewable in the app
-Unified settings screen
-Numerous bug fixes

The social network integration is especially notable, as more and more often communication is becoming an integral part of the eBook experience.
