LinkedIn Wednesday introduced a new way for its members to express gratitude to their co-workers and colleagues.
Product manager Hermes Alvarez unveiled LinkedIn Kudos in a blog post, writing that seven out of 10 employees who receive appreciation for their efforts say they are happy at their jobs, and adding, “Saying thank you and recognizing others is also something we see happening frequently on LinkedIn, so we wanted to make it even easier for you to give a shout-out to those that make a difference in your week. With LinkedIn Kudos, you now have a fun and easy way to share your appreciation for people in your professional community.”
LinkedIn Kudos began rolling out globally Wednesday on the professional network’s iOS application, and it will come to Android and desktop soon. Here’s how to use the feature:
- Tap on the ribbon icon in the share box at the top of the feed.
- Select a connection or group of connections to send kudos to.
- Choose from the 10 categories, which include “Team Player,” “Amazing Mentor” and “Inspirational Leader.”
- Post to the feed, after which the subject or subjects will receive notifications.
Alvarez wrote, “Give the ‘Outside the Box Thinker’ kudos to your colleague for coming up with a creative solution to a problem, the ‘Making Work Fun’ kudos to your coworkers for planning a team outing or the ‘Thank You’ kudos to someone that gave you career advice.”
