A Klinkenborg in LA

Rebounding from yesterday’s pseudo-profound Bruce Wagner opinion piece, the NY Times Op-Ed section publishes a genuinely smart look at Los Angeles by Verlyn Klinkenborg. Sounds like Klinkenborg (which, by the way, is a really fun name to type. Try it!) has been chatting with his exurb-obsessed section-mate David Brooks:

It looks as though a giant walked the landscape, and wherever he set foot a big-box retail mall sprang up from the earth and around it streets and streets of houses built by enormous corporations.
