A.H. Belo Narrows Loss Yet Revenue Continues Slide

Newspaper publisher A.H. Belo reported a loss of $171,000 for Q2 2010, compared to a $9.1 million loss last quarter and a $7 million loss in Q2 2009.
A. H. Belo, which owns The Providence Journal, The Dallas Morning News, The (Riverside, Ca.) Press-Enterprise and the Denton Record-Chronicle, saw advertising revenue continue to fall—to $77 million for the quarter, down from $87 million last year.
Even the company’s digital ad revenue fell, sinking 4.3 percent to $9.3 million. But non-classified digital revenue made gains, rising 2.5 percent to $4.2 million.
In mid-2009, A.H. Belo cut 500 jobs across the company.
