98.7 Kiss FM/WRKS Names Jay Dixon Program Director

This Monday, 98.7 Kiss FM/WRKS celebrated 30 years of music geared to black listeners. Today, they start season 31 with a new program director.

Jay Dixon fills the void created by Jill Strada, who departed for a Miami radio station in June.

Dixon began his broadcasting career in 1977 at a Boston radio station while still in high school. Over the next 34 years, Dixon gained experience in several formats including Top 40, Country, and Urban.

He is no stranger to Kiss, having previously worked as the station’s production/creative service director.

Dixon also had high-profile positions in Birmingham and Atlanta as program/operations manager.

‘Dixon’s knowledge of the tri-state area, combined with his experience in the format, make him the perfect leader for the legendary Kiss brand,” says Ebro Darden, VP of programming for Emmis New York. “[He] is revered by all the major players in the Urban and Urban AC radio landscape, and he knows how to make a station feel and sound like the community it serves. Jay lives the lifestyle of the Kiss FM listener, he is the perfect fit.”

Dixon begins at WRKS on August 10.
