80s alert… Lauper and Ringwald sighted at Tonys

We’re not embarassed to admit that we spent 3 hours Sunday night watching the Tony Awards and eating re-heated Chinese food while our girlfriend was out for the night. Why? What are you implying?

Regardless, the oddest moments about the evening involved Broadway stretcing WAY back, like to the ’80s, to find stars with some name appeal. Last night I found out that Cyndi Lauper not only is alive, but is starring in a Broadway show, the revival of “The Threepenny Opera.” But she looks like Sharon Stone plus 10 years and 20 pounds (Here with Alan Cumming, who I’m starting to think from this picture might be gay; to the right of them are Cynthia Nixon and Audra McDonald, who came in the photo)

Then there was Molly Ringwald. I don’t have a screen shot, but to anybody who saw her introduce a number from the musical of “The Wedding Singer” (because it takes place in the 80s and she was famous in the 80s!!!), I welcome suggestions as to what in the world has happened to her. I didn’t know it was possible to give an unconvincing read working with a teleprompter at an awards show, but she managed it.
